A History of The Pilates Party

How the party started in an unlikely time

It was a month into the pandemic. When we were wearing cloth masks, wiping down our groceries and not really sure when we’d see each other in person again.

A time of a lot of complicated feelings if I’m being honest (maybe you feel that way too?). BUT, it was also the start of The Pilates Party.

Sure, Pilates had been part of my life since I was 10 and I’d been teaching it for a few years on my own, but logging into that very first virtual Pilates Party class opened new doors in my business, new connections with my clients and a new realm of possibility to share the movement modality I love so much.

We may have been on screens together, but we were still very much connected, very much building a community of support and very much in our bodies.

Though we’ve, thankfully, emerged from pandemic isolation, the root of The Pilates Party and why I started it remains.

It’s about commitment to ourselves.

It’s about community with each other.

It’s about building bodies that can carry us through all seasons of life (even pandemics!), whether we’re focused on injury prevention, easing the daily stressors of our days or building strength to keep us healthy long term.

I often like to revisit my movement “why” so I can reassess if things need to change.

Maybe the routine is fully locked in, maybe you’re feeling floundery (is that a word?), maybe you need some help to get started.

Whatever it is and wherever you’re at, The Pilates Party is for you. If you’re already part of the Party and need a little push, join me in a class this Wednesday and if you’re new, welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. Let’s get this party started!
