How to take your Pilates To Go
You can keep your Pilates practice consistent and fiery wherever you are
Here’s one of my favorite secrets: Even if you’re living out of a suitcase, your Pilates practice can still be consistent and challenging.
It’s one of the (many!) reasons I love Pilates so much. It’s the perfect travel companion that you can do in an airport lounge, your hotel room or even poolside (yes, it’s been done!).
A few simple tools can make things even more interesting. Think deeper muscle engagement, better alignment, enhanced brain/body connection, plus that signature Pilates burn we all know and love.
Here are 3 ways to fire up your Pilates practice, regardless of where you are:
A Towel
A super easy way to add a little resistance, especially for the upper body and core. Towels are also a great way to enhance your stretch if you’re feeling like taking some extra time post-class.
Small Weights
Hotels often have a variety of weights, but you really only need 1-2 pounders to make your practice a little more fiery. And, if weights aren’t an option, full water bottles, wine bottles or liquor bottles are an easy substitute (plus they really up the party feel!).
Mini Resistance Bands
Mini bands are super versilate, incredibly easy to pack (all 3 of my bands fit in the pocket of my purse!) and help with muscle activation and alignment.
I believe that Pilates doesn’t have to be confined to a physical studio and I love helping my clients work Pilates into their day, regardless of where they are (or where they will be!).
